Super-stuffed: New 'Avengers' is full of most every single — including itself

Summer is almost certainly when Hollywood rolls out its serious guns, and this star-packed, superhero-stuffed eruption certainly starts things off possessing a bang.

Despicable Me Minion Iron Man iPhone 5/5S Case

The second movie in Marvel's Avengers franchise, it's full of almost everything, including itself. It's got almost all six of the do-gooders from the beginning movie, plus a couple of newbies. It really is dense with character backstories, understanding dramas and plot points that most zip and zing in every way, including forward — to even more movies to come — and in reverse, riffing on things that have occured in previous ones. It will start with one extended mega-wallop just like fight, a castle siege in the snowy forest, and ends during an even larger one, on a falling apart island city in the sky. And it crams even more in between, including a dyna-whopper that most rips up most of Manhattan.

You imagine insurance premiums for the Avengers are unquestionably through the roof.

Ironman iPhone 5 case/Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr. ), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), the Hulk/Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and the Black color Widow/Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) music together again, this time to stop an evil, smack-talking robot, Ultron (voiced by James Spader), that quotes the Bible and performed a ditty from "Pinocchio" as they goes about his mission of world annihilation.

Two new characters, all of the genetically altered twins Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), also come aboard — but only after playing freaky and fast for the other football team first. Samuel L. Jackson, Obole Cheadle, Stellan Skarsgård, Anthony Mackie and Cobie Smulders return intended for cameos. Look — there's Andy Serkis, who played Gollum impurities Lord of the Rings movies! John Bettany, previously unseen as the approach of Tony Stark's computer system, Jarvis, materializes anew as a floating, red-faced uber-android named Vision.

If you're another Marvelite, you'll probably be in fan-gasm heaven. Otherwise, you might find the constant, having an accident swirl and whirl of imagery, effectively barrage of inside references over-bearing and exhausting.

The cast is almost certainly top-notch, and returning writer-director Josh Whedon packs the script effectively screen with cleverness as well as ka-pow. But even at a lengthy 141 minutes, things still feel stuffed and crammed. All the busy SPECIAL huffing and puffing make the silent moments stand out even more, like a landscape in which the other Avengers, a bit rocky after a party, humorously try (unsuccessfully) to lift Thor's hammer from their coffee table, or the romantic subplot between Natasha Romanoff and Generic Banner, in which she reveals another deep secret about her your past and he painfully admits why his/her raging alter ego makes him no more than ideal as a boyfriend.

It's included in the Marvel long game, another studiously crafted, mega-million dollar control in which comic-book characters are transformed from page to screen, coupled, separated, then re-combined in various combinations for a seemingly endless chain along with box-office catnip. Coming up: Ant Fellow on July 15, a new Chief America next summer, the third Thor, plus Dr . Strange in 2017 and another Avengers in 2018.

"Someone's been playing an complicated game and made pawns of all companies, " muses Thor as Ultron draws to a close. True that most, in more ways than one.
